The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) publishes an annually-updated database of physical banking service channels (ATMs, EFTPOS machines, branches, and other face-to-face channels providing branch-level services) provided by authorised deposit-taking institutions (e.g., banks, building societies, and credit unions). Data is available from 2017 in downloadable data tables (Excel format). A full listing table provides information on individual service channels, including institution name, ABN, service type, latitude and longitude, Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2), remoteness area, and state or territory. Summary tables provide counts of each type of physical service channel for SA2s, states or territories, and remoteness areas. The data does not include banking services provided online or via mobile banking applications.
