The methodology for the compilation of BoP statistics has been made consistent with the fifth edition of the IMF's "Balance of Payments Manual" (BPM5) since 2000. The revised data are now available from 1996 onwards.The data are presented in millions of Rial Omani (RO) and summarize the economic transactions of the residents of Oman with the rest of the world for one year (i.e. annual BoP data are available for the public domain). The concept of residence is consistent with BPM5, which is based on the concept of "center of economic interest".
