Overview

In this reporting period, gas chromatography (GC) and synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy (SFS) were used to analyze shale oils. Both of these techniques needed a large number of clean fractions. A high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed to separate aromatics according to ring sizes. It was also demonstrated that about 9 mg of the sample can be effectively separated into class types using a semipreparative column.
