Overview

The methodology outlined below is applicable only to direct retorting of Green River oil shale by the Paraho process. Further, it should be used only for shales assaying between 20 and 36 gallons of oil per ton of shale. To facilitate materials balance calculations, several generalized assumptions have been made. These appear to be valid as first approximation but may need to be refined later.
